Short block interchange

I rebuild the top end on my 99 GMC 4.8 L Vortech but the bottom ended hold out I am now looking for another block I can only find an 04 for my price range will it work in my 99 GMC Sierra 1500 It is a LR 4 engine

Go ahead and buy it, the block is the same.

 

If your 1999 is an automatic it will bolt up like normal. If you have a 5 speed manual your 4.8 has a longer crankshaft flange than an automatic. The long crank was only from 1999-2000 model year manual transmission trucks.
