FNG Lube Question

I printed out the how-to guide for lubing the chassis and was taking a stab at it this past weekend. My FNG question is - how do you know if lube is going into the zerk? I had lube squirting out from between the zirk and the pump and couldn't tell if any was getting in. Having never done this before, I wasn't sure if this was normal or if I had a bad seal against the zerk. I didn't want to push harder and risk blowing seal until I asked you guys.

got to hold it at correct angle so it doesnt leak out at zerk. dont over fill it, it may burst the boot.

On some, you may be able to see if any grease is coming out between the zerk and the end of the gun. On the others, if you manage to have your free hand(yeah right) or your arm against the boot, you'll feel it swell as grease goes in.
