Hello, I have a 2008 Silverado 1500 LY5 Engine and was wondering if the oil hole location on the hydraulic lifters make a difference. I noticed this when I purchased some Melling replacements that the oil holes were situated differently. Will this affect proper lubrication in the engine? The new Melling has hole located on the rounded side of the lifter.20201213_204855.thumb.jpg.1db47f1b4eac93b52bad96f8edfb0878.jpg

Since the opening connects to that machined down section in the middle of the lifter, no, it shouldn't.  The oil will run to the bottom of that area and lubricate the outside of the lifter as it goes up and down.
