I got a 2017 GMC Sierra with a 6.2 and a whipple blower. I was thinking about buying a unlocked TCM from HP tuners to tune the trans. Is it worth tuning the trans? To me it seems like it shifts fast as it is, but I know there is always room for improvement. I know on HP tuners I can buy the TCM unlocked and pre tuned from them.

I wouldn't say you need it for the shift speeds alone but many like a tuned TCM for other reasons.

Like shift mph speeds for part throttle and medium throttle. As well as changes to the torque converter settings. The 8 speed transmission has lock up in every single gear. I've heard that many high performance corvette guys will disable lock up in the lower gears and leave lockup for like 5-8th or 6-8. They also extend 7th and 8th gear shift speeds so it's not doing 45mph in 8th gear.

Having less lockup all the time also can reduce TCC wear. I have the torque converter disabled in gears 1-4 on my 6 speed transmission and prefer it that way.

Thanks for all the info.
