Intermittent Power running board issues

I love my 2020 Sierra Denali 1500 but one annoying problem. The power running boards do not always work. Sometimes they come out/sometimes they don't. Once out, sometimes they go in/sometimes they don't. When one side messes up usually the other side does too. The dealer cleaned the linkage but still they don't always work. It only has 5,000 miles so they cant be worn out.  Has anyone else seen this issue?

I’m having this issue on my 2021 3500 AT4. I just installed the upfitter switches on mine since GMC wouldn’t. Now my steps are intermittent. Did you have any luck finding out why they aren’t working correctly?

I’m having the same issue but it’s just the passenger side.

the passenger side running boards only deploy if I have driven the vehicle or put it in reverse. 
they will work after I park but if the car sits for more than 10 minutes the passenger side will not deploy at all. The drivers side does. Anyone know how to fix this? My dealership can’t figure it out. We have replaced modules and still nothing.
