Diff fluid?

Has anyone changed their front diff fluid. Where is the drain plug. Had my skid plates off an could not find a drain plug. Has a cover like the rear.

Ya, It does NOT have a drain plug and it also does NOT have a reusable gasket. You will need to replace the gasket while you are in there. 

 

There are 2 electrical connector/wires hooked on to the cover itself( tree grommet ). Disconnect these first before removing the cover. FYI i have the SU4 front diff (non-GM diff).

You could suck the fluid out the fill hole I suppose, if it's easy to get at.

The GM dealer (local) has a dedicated machine that siphons out the diff and TC fluids.

Drill & tap a 1/8NPT pipe thread at the bottom to drain. ( or get a friend with skills) I've done it 45 years on dozens of trucks.
