Hello all. I have a 2004 Silverado 1500 and the factory tint on the rear windows and back glass says 18%. After the truck almost being 18 years old, is it possible for the tint to have worn? It currently looks like it's 35% but says 18%. I'm wondering if I should do 35% over it or remove it and do 20%. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

The tinted glass from the MFR in your vehicle is in the glass not a film on the outside and will not change after prolonged use.

It’s just very weird because it says 18% on the window but my dad’s 2016 Silverado says 20% and his looks darker than mine.

Is your dads tempered or laminated? Look at the engraved label it should say one of the two. Also there is 12 years difference in the two vehicles and every year the models change 1200 to 1600 parts plus Federal requirements change and so do things like the tint percentage. Your truck like mine has RPO AA3 window tinted deep tint your dads may be different. The rear window is a range 22% +/-5% so can be anywhere from 17% to 27%.
