so my 1994 Full size blazer 5.7 with 4L60E  is slipping then banging into  1st gear as i add more RPMs to the motor. what could be causing this?  reverse works fine, once its in gear no issues with the other gears. but when I slow down into first gear or coast, when i applies throttle it slips again and then bangs into gear. any help is greatly appreciated.  I have 286,000 miles on the Blazer

If it's got 286,000 miles on that transmission I would just get it rebuilt.

If the fluid level is fine, then it's going to internal more than likely. Worn clutches if it's slipping maybe, failing shift solenoids, valve body issues. It's hard to pinpoint the exact cause without driving it and having it hooked up to a scan tool to watch things.
