Flashing 3rd brake light

On my new 2004 2500HD CC D/A, the third brake light flashes for few seconds then burns solid when brakes are applied. Is this something new for 2004? I have only noticed it on my truck.

i've heard that flashing high mount brake lights were coming but i didn't think they were out yet.

I think I caught mine flashing today, I thought I didn't have the pedal pressed hard enough don't no... I leave for work while it's still dark so I'll keep an eye on it.

The other day in traffic I saw a 99-02 with a constantly flashing 3rd brake light. Kinda strange looking.
