my agent already closed for the weekend and i am very anxious. how much do you guys pay for insurance. i hope to have a busa in the drive monday but it may be a katana 750 if the insurance is high.

The 'Busa and the Kawasaki ZX-12R are in the absolute highest "bracket" or whatever you want to call it. The insurance will cost you more than the bike if you're under 25 and have a bad record.

I bet it has something to do with them being twice as capable as a Viper and 10 times as deadly. But then again I might be wrong.

Heh, 2 years ago I got a quote on insurance for a '98 Honda Superhawk (1 liter V-twin). I was 22 at the time and had a spotless record. Book value on the bike was ~$8k on the high end and a new one was $8999 MSRP. Anyway, the quote was like $9200 a year!!!! I coulda taken my chances w/ a ticket and bought a new bike every year for that!

Man, I want a bike bad though ... 25 is only 7 months away!!! Anyway, gl with yours ... a Busa is one bad machine!

I can beat that. A few years ago when I was 24 and still had 2 points (that's the equivilant of two speeding tickets or soemthing) on my record I got a quote from Progressive for the bike I had at the time which was a 1997 Honda CBR1100XX. It's in the same class of bike as the Hayabusa...just not quite as fast.

I'm glad I held the pink slip to the bike, because full coverage was an unbelievable $17k a year! The lady on the phone even hesitated to say the number. Needless to say, I took my chances and just opted for liability only. Just to make myself laugh even more, I did the online quote thing Progressive has for a Hayabusa. Just a shade under $20k for full coverage. Ummmm...yeah. And right before I bought my RC51, I was quoted something to the tune of $13k for full cover. Needless to say, liability again. And all the time, I was thinking I'm gonna ditch Progressive and go somewhere else. Now, I have a clean record, and I'm over the magic age. I pay $150 a year for liability. I hear State Farm has some decent rates for full coverage though.

When I used to have everything insured with State Farm, my bike insurance was cheap. The problem is that it is attached to your automobile policies, and if you have a claim on your bike, then your auto rates go up too...

I switched from State Farm to Electric Insurance, for my house and cars. They don't carry motorcycle insurance, so now I'm with progressive. I think I pay around $275/yr for full coverage on my GTS1000.
