Nah. They are an awesome trans shop. Just got a bad batch of fluid. They got the billet torque converter from another shop. Never have had issues before from them.

next time try precision transmission in Texas. he wont do carry outs, because people are not compentant to reinstall trannys at home,  but you can ship a vehicle to him for rebuild and tune. he knows 6l80-90's like the back of his hand. he's been at the bench for over 40 years.

I hear ya. This trans shop is very reputable. The guy that rebuilds the torque converters goofed at first but all is good now. Tha KS for the info

make sure you have them check the depth spacing on the Torque conveter after they install it back together. most shops dont even know what this entails.

I can post a link if they dont know how to do it

Update. The first issue was the torque converter. The turbines were rubbing against one another in 1st, 2nd and 3rd gear. 4th gear they lock up and spin together. That's why it wasn't whining in 4th. The trans shop replaced the TC but when they added fluid... the fluid they were using (CAM2) was contaminated with something. That something was eating away at the adhesives holding the clutch plates together. They went through 3 trans rebuilds and 4 TC's until they pieced it together. They sent samples of the fluid to the lab to see what it was. Now they have 13 transmissions to flush or redo.

That sounds like a big mess and a lot of money they’ll be losing.

Are you speaking of how far back the torque converter sits? For instance... ford is one turn 1 click. Chevy trans are 3 turns 3 clicks.

no. I'm referring to the converter hub depth into the pump drive after you slide it in  to the pump,  its the depth from the flex-late to converter mount
