2014 Sierra rear driver side had a plastic burnt smell and was smoking ( brake caliper was hot, but break pads are good.

You'll have to pull it apart to inspect it. Make sure nothing is stuck in the rotor/pad area. Make sure the caliper is not sticking and causing the brakes to drag.
