Yep, 6L80, here we go again. šŸ˜…

Ā

I recently had my transmission fluid and filter changed at just shy of 30,000 miles, and it came out a muddy purple-ish color, smelling burned to high hell. (I asked for a sample of the fluid and they provided)

Ā

To my knowledge, the transmission has only gone over 200°F once, and that was for twenty minutes, max, while towing around 4500lbs.
Ā

I asked the service writer (should’ve asked the tech directly, I know) and he said there was no clutch material or metal in the pan.

Ā

It does hesitate when shifting and likes to jerk into gear, then on rapid decelerations, it likes to slam back to first gear while making a thud sound.

Ā

My question is: How much longer can I realistically expect out of this transmission and is there anything I can do to mitigate the issues. Or should I just wait until it blows up?
