I have an opportunity to purchase a 2002 Chevy 1500 Z71 Extended Cab with around 120K miles.  Been sitting for a few years so will need some work.  Before being parked the entire A/C system was replaced ($2K).  Brakes are sized up at the moment so if I purchase it I'd replace the breaks all the way around and possible the brake lines.  Has leather interior that still looks new inside, no rust on the body or any dents.  Original paint is faded and the clear coat is peeling.  Needs new tires as well and I'm sure will need a complete tune up.  New fuel pump was just replaced to make sure the truck started up and ran.  Is $2K too much for the truck in the condition it's in?

For $2,000 that sounds like a great deal for a rust free body and a engine that runs.

If you buy all the parts yourself and do the work yourself, it'll be well under $1,000 to get all new calipers, rotors and pads. "Tune up" parts are cheap too, plugs and wires, new fuel filter, oil change and away you go.

Well I went by to take a quick look at it and it was in worse shape than I was told. There was a rust spot on top of the cab and the dash was all cracked. Said he would take $1000 for it since he wasn’t aware of the rust and dash.

You can get a new dash pad, do an internet search...otherwise if you need a truck for the winter this is worth the 1k.

Even still that is a steal.  120k on a 5.3 is nothing.  The only problem might be the fuel and seals dried up, which can be time consuming especially the rear main.  Again id be over that for 1k all day long.

Snapped a few pics of the truck.

Well pics didn't work.  Let me figure this out.
