Can you overtighten Torsion Bars?

This may be a dumb question but here goes...

Can you over tighten the torsion bars? If I were to tighten them all the way to raise my truck several inches, would that damage the torsion bars?

I have a lot of thread available to tighten them.

Thanks!

I don't know that you can really over tighten them....

The Problems are, that if you go too tight, then the ride is pretty rough. Also you will need to get the alignment checked if you raise the front over 1/2-1".

Also if you raise the front too far, then you will increase wear on all your front CV's and driveline components....

Pretty rough? You could say that again.

If you have that much thread left, and you use all of it....It would ride like you welded steel bars in the place of the shocks.

With cranked t- bars you lose downward wheel travel which could result in a dangerous situation. Even small irregularities on road or off road surfaces can lift one the front tires because it is probably already against the lower stops. This makes stopping and evasive maneuvers dangerous in certain situations. You will also lose traction when four wheeling unless you have a locker in your front diferential. With all suspension mods the wheels have to have the same travel or more than stock to get a ride like stock. In other words save your money and time and buy a good kit with good engineering that keeps all the front end geometry correct.
