I received a recall notice about the block heater cord possibly creating a short circuit. Luckily it's summer, so I don't need it for a while. Called the dealer and GM hasn't released a fix yet.

Does anyone know where the issue would be? According to the recall notice there were 2 previous recalls that apparently didn't do the job.

Did you have the previous ones completed?

Round one was cut the cord off so it couldn't be used. ( if the vehicle was in a dealers inventory they had to do it before it was sold -- but they didn't have to do it if a customer owned it )

Round 2 was replace the heater and cord assembly.  Required partial drain of the cooling system to completed -- and often a coolant top-up soon after.

(I skipped round one on my 2018)

This is round 3 LOL.  Its hitting trucks that had the heater already replaced so clearly that replacement one isn't good either.  We've already begun cutting the cords left and right.

I got the recall notice in the mail and called my dealer. They said there was no fix available at the time.

I'll probably take a look where the cord goes at some point and look for anything that could be an issue.
