AC blowing not blowing cold air

yes, just watched a youtube video of guy talking and showing how gm listed only tahoes, cads, and suburban for the ac condenser recall/tsb, but not silverados or sieras. Lame.

Has anyone ever get their truck ac condenser replace or job done at chevy dealer because GM don't cover it? Just wondering how much it will cost if mine isn't covered. 

 

I called and talked to an advisor at chevy dealer and he said mine isn't on the recall list for the failed condenser but they will look at it, perform leak tests for $175...but will send it to GM if they will help with anything. If not, the dealer will write up a quote of the total cost for me. Yikes!!

 

I feel that the Silverados should be on the recall list since other tahoes or suburbans are covered for failed condenser?!!

I replaced mine for 150.00.   

 

There's a known defect of  aweld on the side on the condensor,  I charged my system up slight using a small can of refrigerant from walmart.  Then I sprayed soapy water on the condensor near of all the welds and brackets which is were I found the leak.  I watched a youtube video that descrivbe the issue to a T.    Afterwards I replaced the condensor with one from Oreillys. and rented a vacuum pump to purge the system.  Later I refill the system using Car AC hoses I happen to buy from Harbor freight a while back. This should be nationside recall from GM but the cheap ass and don't stand behind they product.

I think every vehicle should be perfect in every way since it wasn't born defected, it was built. 

 

I guess we lives in a different time now, vehicles should never brake down and if it does then there needs to be a recall. In my personal opinion, GM should definitely recall or buy back my truck because the gas tank kept being empty on a weekly basis or after a few hundred mile of driving. No good, I expect to last the life of my truck.

On a six year old truck with 125k+ if the AC system is open it's worth replacing the compressor and o-rings as well. 

 

You can either invest in the speciality tools and education to repair this vehicle properly or probably just best to take it to an independent shop of your choosing.

If the leak just occurred, I say replace only the leaking part(s). All the o-rings should be good because it's still oiled. Oil is to keep all the o-rings from drying up. Compressor should still be good unless you already experiencing issues with compressor. I have a truck, almost 30 years old, still runs on original ac compressor and most o-rings are original. Maybe parts nowadays are not as good as it used too.
