You are consuming coolant? You're adding to tank regularly? You could check your coolant for traces of exhaust gases. There are test kits at parts stores. Smelling coolant at exhaust pipe doesn't sound good.

 

On your oil leak, pull the inspection plugs on housing and take a look. You're correct several places for oil to leak besides main seal.

 

Common is oil pressure sending unit.

 

have you thoroughly cleaned everything and tracked the leak? You can add special dye to the oil to aide in tracing.

As @txab says, dye is available for both oil and coolant to detect leak sources. That would be the most efficient and cost effective way to track down the source of both issues.
