Symptoms

Looses All electricity when I am turning.

Losses Power Steering and triggers stabilitrack message When Turning

Theft deterrent system triggers Radio Resets, Information System Resets . Sometimes when Turning ans sometimes right After I stop and put it in park.

Radio shuts off right when I turn the key off instead of when I open the door. This is always followed by a Theft deterrent 2 Keyfobs programmed when I restart the truck. Once I start the truck everything is reset.

Idling with AC on I can watch the battery voltage drop to about 9V but comes back up when I turn the AC Off. This is only when it is acting up.

Turn Signal will dim the lights. Only when it is acting up.

Power windows will dim the lights or make voltage drop. Only when it is acting up.

Turn Signal will dim the lights or slow the heater blower down if its on.

It works fine for weeks then acts up and wont stop acting up for a few days then corrects itself and starts working fine again. It is worse when there is a lot of moisture in the air. (Raining or about to rain).

It has been to the dealer 2 times and they gave it back to me unfixed. They "Could not reproduce the issue."  Today I was leaving the center lane to turn and it died and left me in oncoming traffic on a 55mph road. Luckily the person that was coming towards me had enough room to stop.

Here is what I have done so far

Fixed both the A-Pillar grounds (G218 & G219). They had insulation stuck under both of them.

Fixed the frame ground on the passengers side. (It did not look bad but I cleaned it up and added star washers to make sure it was grounded well.)

Had the battery tested.

Inspected the alternator wiring.

Verified the cable going to the start was not shorted on the heat shield.

Verified Ground from Engine to Firewall

Checked the connector for Power Steering (X183 or X133)

Checked voltage drop on Positive Cable to junction block.

Inspect engine harness for any visible damage.

Does anyone have anything else in mind to check?

Boy...you've covered it all. Not sure I could add anything but am interested on what you end up finding.

Is there any aftermarket stuff added?

I'd say it still  sounds like a weak ground. After all the videos I've watched & posts that I've read, I would have to say "recheck" what you have done. I also "upgraded" my grounds per this video.

Welcome to the site.

How old is the actual battery, they always seem to test good at the dealership, when in most cases they are almost dead.

I will keep you posted on what I find.

I ordered a new ground cable that goes from the Battery to the Chassis and Engine. I am also thinking about doing the Ground Upgrade at some time.

I am pretty sure it is a grounding issue. Or a battery that is having issues. I want to make absolutely sure the grounding is solid before replacing the battery.

Just from personnel experience, the factory battery (know your current one is not), lasted 18 months in my 2014.

The last 3 or 4 months of it's life caused numerous electrical gremlins in the truck, had to push dealer, but they finally put in a new one, and had no more issues.

Just a guess on my part, as to what your problem might be.

Agreed. I dismissed it when I first started on this a year ago. But I have come to the point that if the new ground cable does not fix it then the battery is getting replaced. The truck is an LTZ with about every factory electronic option possible so the demand on the battery is very high.

Off topic, but this was my loaded up LTZ Z71. 6.2, 6 speed with a 3.42 in the rear. This was a fun truck on the freeway onramps.

Very Nice I like the black. Mine is the 5.3 with the 6 speed. I am not sure of the axle ratio. I have not looked up the RPO codes. But I love it. It drives very nice and has decent power and economy.

🤦‍♂️ Boy do I feel dumb. I looked at the grounding points and the battery terminal. I did not look at the wire. The Previous owner had a cutoff switch installed and had one of the engine ground terminals on the cutoff switch only finger tight. The  chassis ground did not even have a terminal. He split the wire and slid it over the bolt. Not even under the nut.

I took all of that crap out and Tossed it in recycle and put the new cable on. It started better than it ever has and My Voltage meter did not drop like it it was after running the AC for a little while.

I am pretty sure that was what was causing my issues.

I also removed the wire for the trailering the truck that ran under the lower control arm.

Just a couple more little bugs to fix and it is all great, I Still need to fix the Drivers assist Solenoid that is in the drivers seat and replace the Parking assist sensors in the rear bumper.
