I have a 2013 2500HD  that I have owned since 2018. 180K miles. I have quite of bit of vibration at 60-70 mph. I replaced the tires and wheels several times. I was getting used tires and wheels now I have new Michelin defenders with 17" aluminum factory wheels. When I got the new tires there was no change. I took it back to shop and they found 2 things, worn bushings on the A-arms and the steering idler arm. I replaced those and they lined up the truck. It is better but still not as smooth a ride and I think it should be. Any other things in the front end on these trucks I need to look at? Any help is appreciated.

I bet its the tire balance. are you having them balanced at the same place every time? it seems no 1 calibrates their balancers anymore. I have tried several shops in my area with my car and my truck and my tires are still out of balance. Im ready to go to a big box tire place and pay the big $ then make a pain in the ass out of myself until they get bit right. probably should have gone there in the first place. maybe I should dig out my old bubble balancer?

I just noticed I placed this in the wrong place. Sorry about that, I hope it can be moved.

Although it may be mis-categorized, the problem sounds fairly universal. For instance, if you have a bent rim, bad u-joint, or a loose plastic bumper cover - any category will work for that kind of thing. Doesn't really matter what engine you have if the problem is related to the hood latch being loose.  By the way - when I drive between 70 and 75, I get a ... vibration, or "rumble" that goes away at higher or lower speeds.

I tried a couple quick fixes

I fixed the loose rear bumper cover - nope, didn't solve the problem.

Tires balanced, nope.

Swapped wheels/tires, nope.

Checked front hubs - driver side has very small amount of play. Might have to replace that hub.....

Sunroof hops up and down rapidly at certain speeds - the prime suspect. I will test that theory next.

hub bearings usually won't cause a vibration but if it has play it needs to be replaced. 60-70 mph sure sounds like tires but could be the driveshaft or even the torque converter  but the tc would do it in neutral revving it up. take a good look at the brake rotors, look at the cooling fins and make sure they aren't rotted or full of dirt. I had an old Ford that had a fan blade missing on the alternator that caused a pretty good vibration at speed

If the hub had any less play, then it would not be noticeable at all - but I still plan to replace it anyway. I need the rig to be RELIABLE. As for tires, I swapped out 3 different sets. No change. I have lots of spare tires and wheels that are already mounted and balanced, which is convenient for diagnostics. No vibration on neutral rev. The brakes are all new. Les Schwab replaced them just before I got the rig. I could take a look at the alternator, it certainly couldn't hurt to check it out. I am currently running Mud Terrain tires, which completely drowns out any other sounds - so I will need to swap them back to the All Terrain tires, for diagnostic purposes. Drive shafts are solid, if memory serves - but I will double check them when I check fluid levels of the diffs and T-case.

But anyway, I only mentioned the vibration on my rig as a general reference. Once I check mine out thoroughly, I will make a separate post about my rig - if I cant track down the issue. I didn't mean to change the direction of the post. Lets talk about that guys 2013 2500HD instead.

could be an inner CV joint. they do weird things and aren't the easiest things to check

Ya, maybe the CV. It would be worth looking for any torn or leaking CV boots.

Could be a CV joint. It could be anything. I was reading another thread of a guy having a vibration issue on a 2500HD and the description on part of his problem fits mine some. I think my torque converter is making the same noise he hears on his truck. I guess it could be that. What is weird is does not do it all the time.
