Good afternoon guys and girls,

Was reviewing a copy of GDS2 (GM Dealer level Diagnostic software) and I'm able to work my way through the software to get to the DFM solenoid page:

Path: Module Diagnostics/(K20) Engine Control Module/Control Functions/Cylinder Deactivation. Once I land on the last page, It is a screen that lists Cylinder 1 (& 4,6,7) Deactivation Solenoid Valve Command. I was able to click on the "Disabled" button, followed by the "Lock Parameter" icon button.

It would appear that it may be able to locak down the actuation of the solenoids. What I'm not sure about is if it hold this in memory or will revert back to activation upon the next ignition cycle.

If we have any GM techs out there that are familiar with GDS2, could you guys chime in with a response.

Thanks in advance. Bill.

Anyone who stumbles upon this thread, no.  GDS2 control of the AFM/DFM systems in ONLY when GDS2 is in use.  It allows for diagnostic command on/off of the system.

It is NOT a way to permanently disable AFM/DFM.
