Hello! This is my first post. I have a 2008 Silverado which is lifted and has all sorts of extras but I have a bad rust problem. I love this truck and hate to see it rusting away, specifically the rocker panels. Attached is some pictures of it. What would be my cheapest option to fix this? Rocker covers? A full replacement? I do not have much knowledge about rust unfortunately

Cheapest would probably covers but that won't stop the rust.

Proper rocker replacement is the best option but not the cheapest.  Gotta cut as much of the cancer out, then have new rockers welded in place.

If the rockers are that bad, the bottoms of the doors are going to be just as bad. Same with the rear wheel wells under those fender flares. I could see this costing $10,000 or more for a shop to fix everything. Just new bed sides alone would be $3,000-4,000+ with parts and labor.

For the repair, it would really depend on how bad the damage is. You would want to start pocking around under the truck with a screw driver and see if there are any soft spots hiding anywhere. Obviously the less rust the better, so even though its not a solution, I would start by adding some "rust stopper" type of product. At least you can stop, or greatly reduce the progression of the damage while you consider your options. You just spray all the rust once per year. Its cheap to buy on Amazon.
