I live in Texas and I'm wondering if it's the ice storm that just hit us, but I was driving yesterday morning and the CEL came on. I went to get a OBD-II scan and the code P059F appeared on the scanner. The guy at O'Reilly couldn't input the code into his system, so went home to search the what the possible issues are. Looks like it could be:

  • Faulty Active Grille Air Shutter Actuator
  • Active Grille Air Shutter Actuator harness is open or shorted
  • Active Grille Air Shutter Actuator circuit poor electrical connection

I am assuming others have had this issue, but wanting to know of possible solutions or things to check and look at before buying a new shutter assembly. Thanks.

Welcome to the site.

Found this on another GM forum, maybe same problem for you?

I recently had a U1510 code du to active grille shutter fault on my GMC Sierra 2018. I found a short a between the Lin Bus and the 12 volt at the x132 harness. After remove the shutter I found water ingress in the connector at the motor. After cleaning it up I still had a short so I decided to open the motor module which is by the way glued. I knew I had to replace the shutter at this point and I was just curious to see what happened inside. Well let me tell you water made its way inside the motor via the supposedly watertight motor connection.
