2015 Silverado 1500. Had to use spare tire after gouging a tire. Spare came right down, no problem. Cranked cable back up without the a tire on it and snugged it up. Ready to put the spare back under the truck but the cable won’t come down all the way. It goes up some and down about 4 inches but that’s it. Any ideas on how to get it to come back down all the way?

It's probably corroded up there. Spray some wd40 on it & you'll need to pull it down. It's use to the 40# tire weight with gravity to pull it down.

This may give you an idea what you are currently dealing with:

Was able to get some weight on it and it finally came down. Wasn’t corroded . Won’t crank it  back up again unless I have a tire on it. Thanks for the replies and advice.
