Seems the towing forum is not getting a lot of views, so I'll try this here.

I have a 2020 Sierra 1500, and just purchased a dump trailer for occasional personal use.

There are general reports (not vehicle specific) of people blowing the charging circuit fuse if they don't unplug dump trailers prior to using the hydraulics. It seems to stem from a low charge on the trailer battery, and then drawing too much current through the tow vehicle charging system when operating the lift.

With everything computer controlled in these new vehicles, is there a built in protection from this type of occurrence, where I don't need to be mindful to unplug the trailer prior to operating the dump hydraulics?

Interesting, there is another forum discussing why 12v to trailer battery thru 7-pin connector does not work even when fuse for that circuit is fine. I'm going to follow this one too.

No there isn't. Blew both my 30amp fuses on my '21 and '22. Didn't know it and wondered why battery would not recharge between loads.

Then I found this link. Wired it up including a small led light. Works just fantastic. Dump trailer manufacturers need this to be oem...

Thanks @gemarsh I got the relay&LED installed and tested today along with a wireless remote and solar charger through the 7-way plug.
