Does anyone know if we can buy a tailgate harness and camera that we can reconnect and use on a slide in camper when the tailgate is off. We have a 2022 2500 Denali diesel. We went to dealer and they thought we were crazy

GMC sells a 2 camera set that plugs in near your 7 way trailer plug. They can be used inside your trailer if your trailering horses or anything else and they also show the other camera on the rear of the trailer to see traffic in back of you. I have a 2020 2500 HD and trailer horses and looked at them a year ago. I’m surprised the dealer didn’t mention them so don’t know if they still offer them. Go to GM parts. Lookup part# 19421453, good luck.

These are what gm wants you to use so your screen will work with the other cameras when the tailgate is removed. Just mount to the back of your slide-in and don't paint.

I use this from camerasource.com

The camera gemarsh listed can be bought from an on line gm parts seller for about $100. That’s the camera I used. You can buy a cable from Pasternack.com for about $30. No need to spend the money on an entire tailgate harness that may not be long enough anyway. I can give more details about ordering the cable if you are interested. Here is my camera installation on the back of my camper. With it tilted 45 degrees down in that pvc ell, the view is identical to the tailgate camera view.

I also used the Camerasource kit on  my 2020 3500HD and slide in camper.

There are several suppliers on Amazon for the Coax cable. I purchased a short section to extend the connection point to behind the license plate as not to wear out the factory connector next to the spare tire. Male to Female and the camera kit can plug into that extension when installing the camper or tailgate.

Good luck.

I can’t tell for sure because your camera focused on your hand and the connector is out of focus, but that second picture appears to be a FAKRA camera connector. The camera connection is not in that big oval multipin connector. It’s a dedicated coax connector. My truck is a 2021 3500 slt with surround view cameras so it should be the same.
