I have a 2007 Sierra truck and would like to install a new GPS mapping system with cellphone and Android Auto that would fit in the same spot as original. IS there such a creature? I have XM Radio currently.

Thanks for the help.

Just out curiosity why? I buy different cradles and use my iPhone. I don’t use my radio or built in GPS in any of my vehicles. I have iHeartRadio, prime and Pandora. And WAZ on my phone for GPS. For my 02 Avalanche I have a Bluetooth speaker and transmitter for going through my radio. Seems like a waste when your phone already does it all. What am I missing?

There are lots of options for you. I personally understand why you'd want to do this and I've done it myself.

The first is you find a GM GPS head unit from an LTZ, SLT, Denali etc on eBay and swap your current head unit out for that. You will not have Android Auto, but you will have a moving map and cellphone. The maps will be out of date, but never the less they wont use data and are stored on the system permanently. You may be able to find GM update software to keep the maps relevant. This is a great option for, if you'e like me, and want an OEM continuity look.

The second option would be to buy an aftermarket system. Alpine, Kenwood, etc these brands make double DIN units that do audio, cell phone, Android Auto, CarPlay, GPS etc... However, the GPS would be taken from your phone and not a hard database so you may be paying data. You don't even have to buy an established brand either like Pioneer, a quick search on Amazon shows theres plenty of GPS and Android capable head unit systems for well under $500. You will get what you pay for. You may also have to buy an amplifier switch for an aftermarket head unit, this is explicitly true to the Bose equipped vehicles. Aftermarket head units don't speak the same language as the Bose amplifier so if you put a head unit in without the amp switch, you wont have audio, not even the key bong and these range about $100-$200.

Alpine ilx-w650, Google Play, and fits in the same spot you can also get an amplifier that will fit behind it so no modifications to the dash need to be made.
