start-up issues after sitting an extended

Has anyone had any problems with their trucks not starting after sitting for a long time. A guy at work let his truck sit for 10 days and when he went to start it the battery was completely dead (03 gmc). Had to jump it.

Anyone with a similar problem and howd ya fix it?

Well, what with memory for power seats and mirrors and radio, and factory security system, there is WAY more "parasitic" drain then there used to be. My old 1984 Ford F-150 can sit for a month and start just fine.

I would get a DMM, set on DC amps, and see what your parasitic load is. Then start pulling and replacing fuses in the underhood Power Center ONE AT A TIME until you find the culprit.

A weak battery can do that. Just because it's a year old doesn't mean it can't be defective. Unless he left something on, like an interior light, radar detector, or whatever. If nothing was left on, it should be on warranty. Battery or alternator?

always check after market devices first ie. remotoe starts, cellular telephones or alarms. other than that we have had problems with the power seat buttons sticking in on the seat and drains the battery.

fuel pressure regulator gasket leak was the problem in my other truck. took to dealer, started great afterwards.
