lower glove box wont unlock

hi ,i have a 2019 silverado new body 1500 custom.i cant get the lower glovebox to unlock.not sure if some one tried to break into it and jammed something in it or the lock is bad.is there a way to get it unlocked or opened without busting it up?the key only goes in about 1/3way in.thanx tim

May help, may not.  I just went out and looked at my lower glovebox. Until I read your post I had forgotten it was lockable.

 

The key only goes in about 5/8". Some of the "cut" still shows when the key is fully inserted. The key only turns 1/4 of a turn. Up and down is unlocked, sideways is locked. All of the mechanism is covered by the inner liner of the glovebox so there is no linkage exposed to get jammed. The pins that latch the box closed are totally surrounded and look impossible to get to from outside of the dash.

 

The latch pins are right in that bend near the top of the glovebox door. Try pushing in on the ends while trying to turn the key. Your may need a second set of hands.
