Low Oil Pressure on Gauge

Hi all,

 

Running into  a little issue with my 05 Silverado with the 5.3. Occasionally the oil pressure gauge will drop to 0. It will sometimes return to normal if I stop/start the truck or let it sit. When this occur I do not get any dash messages and no unusual sounds occur. I have driven it for minutes like this with no issues. I keep up with oil/filter changes. It's random when this occurs but usually happens when car is fully warm and has been driving a while. My suspicions are the sensor or the stepper motor. Anyone have experience with this? Normal driving oil pressure it between 40-60.

Following, as I also have a 05, with the L33, but with very low miles, only around 52k.

Replace the sensor with an OEM part first, it's a very common failure on those trucks.

Don't forget the screen as well. They are separate parts. The screen can get clogged and cause false readings.

There is no screen on anything before 2007. I repeat, there is no screen on anything before 2007.
