2016 Silverado 5.3 oil change

I know Ac Delco 0w20 is the recommended oil for the truck. Does anyone have any input on this. What do you use. And if i go Ac Delco what's the difference  between gen 1 or gen 2?

You will want the latest version. You would think AC Delco would have phased out gen1 off the shelf by now.

 

Oil choice is up to you.  Look for SN Plus and ILSAC GF-6 (oils specifically formulated for direct injection).

 

i personally use Pennzoil Platinum because I could easily get it at Walmart for $20-22 (5qt) ($27 now apparently) and would only buy when there was a rebate offer, therefore also budget friendly.

Any 0w20 oil that meets Dexos will work.  Amsoil OE and XL both exceed Dexos if you were looking at running Amsoil.

 

All the oils on the market will be tested to Dexos 1 gen 2 or Gen 3 now.  All it is was the introduction of stricter testing for turbo engine performance and wear as well as gas direct injection LSPI (low speed pre ignition aka detonation) in NA and turbo DI engines.
