I changed my battery this morning. The old one was toast. Put in a Deka 778DT.

The swap was fine. Nothing abnormal about it. But when I went to drive the truck the radio didn't work. The screen doesn't come on. The buttons don't light up when I turn on the headlights. The buttons DO come on for 4-5 seconds when I hit the power button. Also, the display does function when pressing the CD buttons:

I checked the fuses under the hood, the radio fuse and the amp fuse, and both were good. I doubt I shorted anything out (unless the radio itself fried somehow), and I'm certain all the cables were put back where they're supposed to be. So it's puzzling.

I should also mention that I have an iSimple iPod interface plugged into the back of the radio, but that's been there for years and hasn't caused me any grief.

My Honda has a built-in anti-thief that disables the radio when the power is interrupted. There is a code and method in my book to restore it. Perhaps this is the case here?

Prolly have to go to the St(D)ealer and get it unlocked for $260.00 plus tax.

Solved.

The iPod/Bluetooth interface was the culprit.  Apparently the capacitor inside got a voltage spike when I replaced the battery and wasn't discharging.  So tech support had me short the capacitor to discharge it.  Hooked everything back up and all is good again.
