Popping or puffing sound from left side of intake or cylinder head. No CEL

I don't think it's valve train. Could fuel injectors leak air from cylinders, seems like it's cylinder 3 or 5...

not knowing what year truck is, try spraying some carb cleaner around the area where you here the sound, if its an intake leak, that cylinder will be running lean, so the carb spray (should) will cause an increase in RPM, if so then you found it.  If you have access to a laser type temp reader, you can fire it at each exhaust tube it might show one (or two) tubes cooler that the rest.  Just be careful with the carb spray, it is flammable!

Reaching out to defo26   What was the problem with your Silverado's motor???

I have the same problem and there's no diag codes associated with this issue...

Has anybody out there solved this problem or have insight into it.    Thanks

Fixed this problem on 2015 LT 5.3 L83 engine...

After chasing the puffing/popping sound I did a compression check on bank one. Cylinders 1-3-7 had 240 psi and cylinder 5 had 140 psi so after checking valves and valve springs and valve train and finding no problems I removed the intake and when cranking the engine over I found the noise and air coming up thru cylinder 5's direct injection injector. Removed the fuel rail on left head and injector 5 and found the teflon seals gone around the bottom of the injector.

Replaced all 8 injectors and high pressure fuel lines and ALL IS GOOD...
