Kicker tailgate audio - connected but no sound

23 Sierra 1500 Denali carbon pro here.  I can get my phone to connect to the kicker sound system at the bottom of the tailgate but no sound is coming out is the speakers.  
 

Have confirmed it is in Bluetooth mode, and that phone is connected. Spotify shows a song playing. Volume is up on both phone and kicker system.  But no sound coming out of speakers.  Any ideas ?

EDIT: I should add that I have tried plugging in via USB and can’t get any sound there either.

Mine was wonky initially. I ended up unpairing the kicker system and then pairing again. That fixed it for me. Also try a different streaming service like SiriusXM which you probably have right now.

This is insane, but here’s what the problem ended up being: the dealer did not plug-in the speakers when they installed the system. Seriously.
