Aren't those motors pretty high strung?

And that chart has it peaking at 45-45k rpm?

Just an observation, I don't know d!ck about Neon motors...Or Moparts.

I dont know anything about them. I just thought it was kinda wild seeing a little Mopar 4-banger push out 500HP. Looks like about 4500-4900RPMs peak. I cant say its too bad. If it were in a Cavalier or that Aveo it would be cool. But not in a Neon.

Well, reading half the thread....It appears legit. I just figured it would peak at a higher RPM than that.

However, you can build 500 ponies out of a ton of different motors for $6000-$8000....Half that with a Chevy though...You can get a Littlefield 8 for under $3k.

Yeah, but would you want to pull up to a s**thead in a vette and beat his ass in a cam'n V-8 or a 4-door SRT neon. You be the judge.

No, they arent high strung engines. It is a 4 cylinder but dodge didnt build it to hold up to high rev's. I dont know why. Unlike a 4G63 engine out of a eclipse, a neon's rev limiter is about 6500 compared to a 463 being 7600 rpm stock.

Well....I hate to say it, but they must have done it right....The numbers on those little buggers are pretty impressive.

Of course, you are right Flodine, I would much rather have a rowdy 68 Chevelle.

And you can pick up a decent one for quite a bit less than an SRT Neon, I'm sure.

Then slap this guy on there, hang it out the hood (cowl hoods are for sissies).

:lol: Force-fed fun!! Why not just ditch the hood altogether. Leave it off for the whole world to see whats living between the fenders!! If they cant see it. I guarantee they would be able to hear it!!

Is it a Hondo or a Youngblood??? My dad has a '76 Taylor SJ Jet. Not 1400HP but has a built Olds 465. Hes pretty big on old boats like that. Theres a guy with an old 18ft Youngblood tunnel with a 468 roller, juice fogger, fully ported/polished & balanced Berkley pump, some special inducer cone and a place dirvertor for some nice rooster tails. Hes pushed it to 133 on a little lake not to far from my home. Its got a dark metallic green gelcoat. He named it "Green Onion." Mean, green and it can and will make your eyses water!

Either way, shoot up some pics!!!

Hondo or Youngblood?

Not sure what you are asking.

Painted like a d@mn rainbow though....He about sh!t when I explained the meaning of that to him...He still wants to repaint it.

Hondo and Yougnblood are old boat builders. Eliminator makes a dam good boat though. Cougar makes an MTR 23' tunnel with 2 Merc 300 X's on it that I would give my left nut to have! Runs 112 straight from the factory.

Your buddy didnt know the deal behind the rainbow eh...
