Preventative Maintenace for Retractable steps?

Recommended Posts

Just got a new Denali with the Multi-pro steps, bunch of snow this week, going to clean the truck up nice this week.  Already thinking of how to clean & lubricate these retractable steps to keep them from malfunctioning in the future.

Any suggestions?  Obviously keep them clean and clear of road salt/mud/sand...  what about lubricating?  Silicone spray?  WD-40?  Grease?

When these things fail, what is the cause?  Electrical connections?  Actuators?  Frozen pivots?

Thanks

This is my 2nd Denali truck in 7 yrs with the Power Steps, 3 yrs with current one and I have done nothing in the way of maintenance.  Its winter here the U.P of Michigan and right now we are getting Lake (Superior) effect snow storm.  They never failed to work everyday.  My motto is, as long as they work, don't mess with them.
