I could use a little help getting my cargo bed lights to work - I made an assumption and I hope it will work out.

I asked the Mrs to get me a set of cargo lamps (the ones that go either side of the tailgate in the bed) for Christmas. My 2500 is a WT package, so very few options.
I assumed that since there were connectors AND I read 12vdc to ground that they would just work if I plugged them in. The cargo lamp over the back window works just fine and the manual says if you push the cargo lamp button 2x within 5 secs the ones at the rear of the bed should light - but no such luck.

I’m opposed to any janky wiring solutions, so if it won’t work, I’ll just return the parts - but I sure would like to find a solution.

Thanks in advance for the help.

You'll need to have the lights added to the programming of the BCM. It has to be done via dealer-level programming via AC Delco TDS/ Techline Connect. Its dumb that its so particular about a simple lighting circuit.

Thank you. That’s what I was afraid of, I’ll call my local dealer and see what it will cost.

I called the dealer, the guy I spoke with couldn’t tell me either way if they could add the lights or not. I also asked if they could re-cal my speedo - which has proven to be difficult to get fixed after I changed my wheels. I think he actually expected me to drop it off and pay $185 an hour to “see” if they could do it, pretty disappointing. I have another dealer down the way I still need to call but if the past is any indication, I don’t expect much.

I don’t know what a wag is but if it’s a $150 potential solution, lay it on me I’d love to try it. I’m tech savvy enough to plow through just about anything (read, YouTube university graduate, lol)
