Hello All.  I am having an issue where once I start my truck, the "Trailer Connected" message appears when I do not have any trailer connected and then it moves to "Check Trailer Wiring".  If I do plug in a trailer, the electric brakes do not work and the message continues to appear.  I have disconnected the battery to reset the computers, cleaned both the front and rear electrical connector for the 7-way connector and nothing.  Any thoughts?  Thanks in advance.

I have seen other threads that it might be a module under the rear that has gotten corroded and needs to be replaced. It is located just above where the spare tire is. Another thing to check is the wiring that runs along the frame rail and that is probe to damage and insulation can get nicked causing a short or grounding out.

My suggestion is to check the wiring all along the rail first. Then if that seems ok, check the module. There are other threads that will have more info on that module if you search here.

Ok thank you for the reply.  I will check the wiring first and module.  I will search the forms to see if there is a way to test the module.  Thanks
