Howdy.

Going to service my transfer case soon and was wondering for those that have done it if the plug that's in there is magnetic. If not, anyone track one down that is?

I'm guessing it's not based on the info from parts.gm PN 11601929

Says thread diameter 17.27mm or 0.68in but not finding anything with that info.

Cheers.

Not that I'm aware of but you can get a strong neodymium magnet to put on the drain plug and it would almost be the same.

Was thinking about JB welding one to it since it's a steel plug.

Just serviced my transfer case this past weekend.  The plugs do not have magnets.

Both differential fill plugs do.  I don't have drain plugs on my diffs (2021 MY).

Gold Plug IP03X says it works. Guess I'll match it against the fill plug and see if it works. AI seems to think it's tapered design putting all the measurements up against the AC Delco stock plug will work. I'll report back.

Ended up using the above plug for my AEV diff cover so never tried on transfer case. Next time I change the oil I'll try again.
