Tow Mirror "Upgrade"

Hello all

Any aftermarket 'guts' available or recommended for the mirrors, gears/motor?

Might have one dying and would fix myself if possible instead of going with OEM replacement.

I backed into a tree last fall and broke a piece of trim on mine. Took about 10 minutes to remove that piece. Then I found out that GM doesn't sell parts for them.....only complete mirrors. Plus, there's about 20 different options for mirrors, so getting the right one is no treat either.

That is correct. You need your VIN to order the correct mirror depending on cameras, blind spot detection...

Well, went from dying to dead pretty quickly.  Can't find anything about replacement 'guts' so I guess I am ordering a new one.  11 days out of warranty.

I had one of my mirrors start going slow and sticking and used a small amount of silicon spray and now they work fine. (for now)

Yeah thanks.  I have used some 'dry lube' a couple of times (trying to avoid collecting dust).  Maybe I will have to break down and go with some silicone.

It works more than it doesn't but not dependable.  I have to use every time I park in my garage.
