Mike Weinandy Posted April 6, 2024 Posted April 6, 2024 (edited) My 3500 is warning me when I'm getting too close with the frontof truck to something. Nothing with the rear though. I have a hitch in but that shouldn't stop the warning bells. I've gone into settings and checked both bells and seat warnings and still nothing. Does the hitch really stop this from going off? bruceb58 Posted April 6, 2024 Posted April 6, 2024 It doesn't do it in when you put it in reverse? I have a ford that does with my WDH on but don't have my GMC yet to know.
Mike Weinandy Posted April 7, 2024 Author Posted April 7, 2024 When in reverse, I have backing cameras and I get within a couple inches of anything and no warning at all. Going forward, the seats vibrate even though I have it set for sound warning
Another JR Posted April 7, 2024 Posted April 7, 2024 I can’t find anything in the manual about it, but my truck sometimes will have the rear park assist disabled on startup and will display a message for a few seconds after start. It only happens when I park in my barn center aisle backed up within a foot of my other truck. The manual does say park assist won’t work when the tailgate is down, and i think it’s for the same reason. I believe that if the sensors sense an object in close proximity at startup, the rear park assist system is disabled. My guess is your hitch is having that effect. Do you see a message briefly after starting the engine when this happens?
bruceb58 Posted April 7, 2024 Posted April 7, 2024 What happens when you take the hitch out and back up?
sstoner911 Posted April 10, 2024 Posted April 10, 2024 Front and Rear Park Assist can be turned Off, On, or On with Towbar. To view available settings from the infotainment screen, touch Settings > Vehicle > Comfort and Convenience. If Park Assist is turned off through vehicle personalization, the Park Assist button will be disabled. To turn Park Assist on again, select On in vehicle personalization. The On with Towbar setting allows Park Assist to work properly with a trailer hitch. Some larger trailer hitches may not be compatible. Turn off Park Assist when towing a trailer. To turn the RPA symbols on or off, from the infotainment screen, touch Settings > Vehicle > Comfort and Convenience > Rear Park Assist Symbols. 1
Pryme Posted April 10, 2024 Posted April 10, 2024 I back my truck into the garage every day. I’d be so annoyed with a beep. I simply look at the rear backup camera along with the mirrors and to see the exact spot I want to stop. It’s always within a inch 1

Don't want to take hitch out as I use it frequently and it weighs 48lbs. 1
Mike Weinandy Posted April 12, 2024 Author Posted April 12, 2024 Figured it out. Settings- vehicle- collision/ detection- then park Assist Towbar. Set it for either attached or not attached 2
