I have a 2023 Chevy Silverado 1500 and I tow a Ranger bass boat with this truck.  When I put the truck (towing the trailer) in reverse, the reverse lights come on for one second then go out.  This causes the brake solenoid to go out as well and the surge brakes engage while trying to back.  Any idea how to fix this.  The truck is under warranty but the dealership states they can't find anything wrong.

Sounds like the truck doesn't like the trailer.

Have you tried the trailer on another truck?  What kind of lights does the trailer have, incandescent or LED?  What kind of plug does the trailer have?  4 flat?  7 way round?

I have tried the trailer on a Ford F-150 and a Toyota Tacoma and the trailer lights (specifically, the reverse lights) work fine.  I have a 7 pin round connector. The trailer lights in question are LED.  The backup lights, brake lights and turn signals (same as backup light) are LED.  I think the side marker lights may be incandescent.

You may have to add resistors to the light circuit on the trailer. I have a cargo trailer that has LED taillights, and it would show messages check trailer brake lights randomly or check one side or the other would trigger the message. Not enough power draw on that particular trailer's lights so resistors on the brake circuit was my cure.

I have 4 other trailers, 3 with LED's and no issues on them. The cargo trailer has no brakes or reverse lights BTW.

Sounds like the trailer lighting control module on your truck doesn't like something.  If you hook up another trailer to your truck, do you get the same reverse lights issue?

I would consider trying one of these adapters from Curt that GM recommends on trailers with LED lighting - 7-Way RV Blade LED Electrical Adapter (Not a Wiring Extension) SKU #57003 for $31.13 by CURT Manufacturing (curtmfg.com)

If that doesn't resolve your issue, a trip to the dealer might be in order.  Could be a faulty trailer lighting control module.
