We have an '21 acadia and a '23 sierra.  Both are upper trims.

Both can access and control HVAC settings from the screen.

(I just went out and verified the screen can do control -- we NEVER use the screen controls, so I wanted to be sure.)

IMO, needing to access a different screen to be able to run the HVAC is the stupidest thing the young designers  ever came up with.

Large (reasonably) buttons and knobs are the way to go.

They are always always accessible without having to change screens.

HVAC control is one of the things that gets full consideration when we select a vehicle.

If it forces finding a screen or if it has tiny buttons/knobs, the vehicle gets removed from consideration.

I also refuse to 'talk' to my vehicles.

Great Enthusiasm,  The above reference of the controls had to do with the upscale capability of the 7 in screen vs an 8 inch screen.   I have an LT with an 8 inch screen with a IOR setup.  I found it interesting based on the above thread that a vehicle with 7 inch screen had touch controls,  if that was the case it had to have a IOU upscale ( with nav capable system ) touch HVAC, Hud and Upscale instrument Cluster communication capability.  That did not make sense, hence the question was asked.

We were not justifying the practicality of any of the function just the exitances on a 7inch screen.

As a note, I find move of the current voice controls, calling, texting, directions to, check score of game X, very helpful.

Its not perfect but it is better than stopping and safer than pulling your phone out and taking your eyes off the road.

Any way to each his/her own.

Yupp, safety is the reason for not wanting to dig down to find a screen for HVAC, and a reason to let the phone take a message when driving.
