Noise Reduction

Just a simple dumb question:

 

Would the audio matting used by stereo installers placed in my doors and rear fender areas on my Suburban reduce road noise by a significant amount?

 

Just curious, a friend mentioned it and it got me wondering.

Yup, it helps a bunch.

 

Shop around before you buy though, there are lot of prices on different brands for pretty much the same product.

I used dynamat extreme and it worked awesom

 

unfortunately I got porked on the price and about a month later found it all over ebay for half the price I paid

I used FatMat that I bought off eBay the stuff worked great!! I bought 100 sq ft and used triple layers on the floor and 1 layer on the doors of my crewcab. Worked great!! I paid about $1 sq ft. Saves allot over dynamat however you have to double up to get the same effect as one layer of dynamat. But dynamat is about $5 sq ft so basically you could put down 5 layers for the price of one!! Although 5 layers would be getting kinda thick...
