Well that was fun. I’ve been running my Generator to make sure it performs as designed. That wasn’t the problem. The professional electrician I used to have the correct plug installed to my breaker box was the problem. I told him that I want to used my outlets. Actually the whole box, I just switch off the stuff that would be too much for the generator. Like a whole home generator but a third of the cost. It actually costs more to do it right than running extension cords. I’m pre set up. Cable run to the box, generator ready. All I have to do is pull a switch turn on the generator all is good, nope not happening. No lights except the flashing light on the stove. So now I’m running an extension cord to the house from the detached garage to plug in the fridge and freezer. Another cord from the freezer to the generator in the garage. Son of $$$$. Guess what the idiot has power to? The stove, the garage and the central air I can’t use. I know I should have tested his work. This a trust worthy business. We used them at the church, my old business. What a load of crap. I’m lucky I lost power early before the bad weather hit. Yes I called them, yes I was nice to the secretary.

Got my electricity back last night after only 14 hours. I’m sitting there watching tv on my phone on it comes. After spending money getting my electricity box rigged the right way for a generator. On comes my lights with the main breaker off. So I slide up the interlock and turn on the main. Nothing changes. I can’t wait to talk to the electrician.

My clean up from Beryl is done. Electric is on, yard cleaned up. The eye passed close to us at 70 MPH. We have an electric co-op, MidSouth electric. They do our internet and water too. First class operation. There’re always out trimming to keep everything up to snuff. There’re the reason I didn’t invest in a whole home Generator. First time since the last hurricane I lost electricity over a day since 07. The last time I was on a cruise to Alaska so it was on when I came back. My guys from work did the cleanup at my house. My brother in law emptied the fridge. So it was like it never happened.

I went out yesterday around 10AM to pickup a prescription. The gas station was packed, the store was packed. My wife went in the other direction towards Conroe Texas that was about 2/3 without power. Anything that was open was packed. This was just the day after Beryl came through. I shouldn’t be I guess but I was shocked how unprepared people were. The last time a more powerful storm came through everyone was up and running in a week. The gas lines just amazed me. Where are you going to go? Every thing is closed. I didn’t expect this much damage to the area with this storm. But I can go at least a week with the food you used the most like eggs and milk. And months if I had to on the rest.

What an experience you've had. I am happy you and the family are safe. Truly tickled. My daughter and family live in Houston. Maybe by tonight I'll know more but physically, they are fine. We got the tail of that storm last night. Just a slow soaking rain that lasted most of the evening. Farmers loved it. We've had corn in tassel for a few weeks here.

Anyway, good job on your prep work 😉
