What would cause a number 2 connecting rod to break in two separate engines in a 99 Chevy Silverado 5.3, LS engine? car wouldn't start in parking lot, was wiring in column. On the way home, started smoking out white smoke on passenger side exhaust that smelled like fuel. Was running the engine, trying to find the problem and the number two connecting rod shot through the oil pan. Put in another engine and it broke the number two rod again. Any ideas? I'm out of engines and ideas, lol.

Same or different injectors?

#1 cause, lack of lubrication. These engines are notorious for oiling issues, either with age, or self-inflicted (by the last person to work on it).

#2, Power adders ... AKA, too much boost (from supercharger or turbo[s] ) one too many times. They'll spit con rods every time on a stock engine.

#3 hydrolock. Sucking in water driving through water, or a massive head gasket failure allowing coolant and oil in the combustion chamber (not common). Usually bends, but can break them in extreme cases.

Complete and total injector failure, new or not! Either it got damaged during installation or they're the worst quality counterfeit or chinese parts available.

That would most certainly bend or break a connecting rod, destroy bearings by diluting oil, fry catalytic converters to a cinder, etc..

Anyone know why fuel would come out of the passenger side exhaust?

Stuck open injector. May also cause hydra lock
