Best way for Peelling out?

Whats the best way to get smoke?  I can never quite get to that point, no matter what car i drive.  (My tahoe is an automatic).  All advice appreciated.  I WANT TO LEAVE SOME DAMN RUBBER "FOOT PRINTS"

You'll have to brake stand your truck.  Just put your left foot on the brake and hold the truck in one spot while you put your right foot down on the gas.

 

You may have to ease up on the brake a little until the tires break loose, and then just hold it there until the smoke starts to fly.  It's pretty easy to get the truck to shift into 2nd gear without it moving forwards at all.

 

Just be careful you don't attract too much attention...

Also, let up as much as you can on the brake without letting the truck move.  This will help you get more wheel speed and be easier on your rear brakes.

Advice can't get much better than that. I guess you could always take some bleach along if you really want some smoke.

 

How bout we take it out of town this time ;)

and make sure you have plenty of room and an escape route in case those tires hook up. You don't want to end up grill first into a utility pole :blush:

Put about a pint of bleach in a gallon of water, pour it on the road in front of each rear tire, drive forward slowly until both tires are in the water, then power brake it, allow the truck to pull slightly out of the water while spinning.

 

Result: nice pretty white smoke, hot tires

funny you guys mentioned this.  i just got a new pair of eagles mounted on my rear wheels for the vette.  i haven't mounted them yet, still have the old firehawks mounted so last night i took it out to the 'test track', a relatively undeveloped area on the edge of town with really good pavement and no housing and businesses.  made sure the coast was clear and lit 'em up.  cut earnhardt style donuts for minutes.  hehehehe.

you wanna lay rubber?  easiest suggestion (no offense but you guys know it's true) get rid of the truck.

if you insist on the truck, then your going to have to find a nice, vacant area like what i discribed.  when all is clear, turn the wheel to full lock and nail the gas.  as the azz-end begins to swing around, slowly unwind the wheel and steady your throttle.  you can burn any tire you have to the cord if you want.  obviously, these are donuts (or powercircles, depending on how good you get at it) but you didn't specifically say in a straight line.

Donuts are more fun anyways, it's like having your own Amusement park.

 

Clutchdust, what would happen if I just kept the pedal to the metal as opposed to "Steady-ing" it?

lee, tire speed would increase to the point where it would not propel the car/truck.  tires would still spin, but vehicle speed would stall.  then you would just sit in a big, noxious cloud of tire smoke (hey, that's kind of cool!).  that is based more on my experience at FAILING to do donuts than attempting to burn rubber in a straight line.

Actually, once your tires start spinning, it takes less power to keep them spinning.  If you keep it floored it is very easy to over-rev.

Thats the fun part! then you can make like a snake (much easier with an auto but i can do it) going down the road!  Then crank the wheel, let off the brake, and 180 here we come!
