Howdy,
I have a problem with my buck and I am out of ideas. The engine will not run correctly on its own, it will run on ether. Please see the image of what I have diagnosed the issue as. The atv is a John Deere Buck 500, a rebranded BRP Traxter. The engine will not run with the plug-in. I would also be willing to just let the thing go for $1000 if you are in the central Tx area

Need to pull the carb off and clean the main jet and any other removable tube that has holes in it.

If it runs on starting fluid or ether, then it's not pulling fuel up correctly from the main jet.

I went ahead and bought a new carb, they're cheap on Amazon.

Cheap doesn't mean good. Most of those aftermarket knock off carbs will be off right out of the box. Either too lean or too rich. Or even leak fuel.

Cleaning the stock carb would have been easier. Takes like 20 minutes on a bench. Maybe I'm just more mechanically inclined than you are, so that's my mindset.

I 100% agree with you on cheap parts, however the two options for carbs is $40 on Amazon or $700 OEM. I will try to clean the carb first though.

You check the fuel pump?

Getting great fuel, almost makes me wonder if it's getting too muck=h and that is what is causing gas to spew out of the carb

If the carb has a float/needle valve then it sounds like it's stuck open stuck open

She runs and hauls ass!

We bought the machine about 10 years ago at an estate sale. We then used it for about 3 or 4 years, then it sat in the shed for about 6 years. Nothing was broken, and it ran good, but we got our hands on the greatest thing since sliced bread, the Gator. In 2022, we decided we wanted all of our play toys to be operational, so it went to the dealer. Deere diagnosed a bad carb and refused to work on it after learning how hard it is to find parts for it. I found an Amazon carb and threw it on, it never quite ran right, and it got put on my back burner. Fast forward to this thread, I ended up putting another new Amazon carb on it. The only issue I have is keeping the fuel pump primed, I think a check valve will fix the issue.
