Black Bumper Paint Questions

I tried searching for the exact answer to my question but I have not been able to find it so here goes.

 

I am in the process of swapping my chrome bumpers for black painted ones.  It seems to be impossible (for a reasonable price) to find ones without scratches/scuffs so the ones I have/will be obtaining will require painting.  From other searches on here I have found that the black GM paint code seems to be WA8555, however I have noticed (and it is also listed in the fleet order guide) that there are 2 different styles of black bumpers.  A high gloss version and a normal satin/matte(?) version.  The rear bumper I picked up is the satin style.

 

Is the paint code the same for both bumper versions and if so is it just a different clear coat?  Or is the satin version different altogether? I want the satin finish versions, so RPO codes VH6 and VJG. If the paint codes are the same, what is the correct clear coat to use for the satin finish?

You have a WT trim standard bumper which is the satin black finish.  WT use that bumper as standard equipment front and rear the satin, with chrome being the option.  The gloss black are Trail Boss. 

 

I "think" the satin ones are just WA8555 topped with a satin clear but I'd be checking with a dealer body shop to be sure.

I’m not sure on codes or where to find them but I have the satin black bumpers on my wt. surprised at how they are holding up to any chips. I only have one tiny one since 2022

I’m sure the color is called black chrome. That’s what’s on the newer trucks that come with black bumpers.

No. 

 

The WT satin bumpers are black with a satin clear.  The gloss black are the same WA8555 black GM has used for like 30+ years with a regular gloss clear.

I reached out to a dealer collision shop for confirmation so I will report back once I find out.
