My '24 Silverado 2500 Custom is mostly blacked out except for the wheels.

Looking at options for blacking them out.

Initially I thought about getting the Custom wheels powder coated. But quotes I have received have all been around $600-$700 at professional shops, and I don't really have a way to transport the wheels if they are off my truck.

Another option is to find a set of OEM 20" black wheels, but it seems that everybody wants them and they command a very high price. I dislike the '24 silverado 20" black wheels, and the once that are an option on the '25 Silverado 2500 custom people are asking ~$4000.

Then there are factory reproductions/replicas. These would be the same size and offset as the current wheels on the Custom (20x8.5, 47 offset). I could get a set for $900 and easily take them to a tire shop and have the sensors and tires swapped to them. Then sell the Custom wheels and maybe only be out ~$300 for the swap.

Anybody have any experience towing with replicas or long-term use experience? I've read that cast aluminum replicas may not be as robust and long-lasting as forged wheels, but I don't know if that is outdated or what.

I have replicas for my summer set on my 2022 1/2 ton from OEWheels.  18" Trail Boss 1500 reps with machine face.  They are great so far.  No issues with them so far.  Went together fine, no out of round or bad balancing.

Here's their site, hopefully when you open it, it should take you to the Silverado HD wheels.  They reproduce two of the newer 2020-up HD wheels and then have two designs that are from 11-19.  2024 Chevrolet Silverado 2500 Replica Wheels | OE Wheels

That is good to hear. I was actually looking specifically at OEWheels and the CV70B replicas, which are similar to the blacked out option for the '25 2500 Custom.

One thing to keep in mind, especially with our 3/4 or 1-ton trucks... make sure the wheels meet or exceed the load ratings of the stock wheels. I've heard stories about aftermarket wheels not meeting stock ratings. This will come into play if towing heavy. Do the OE Wheels meet spec?

Hi. Check out the 18 inch black wheels that are on the 24-25 Alaskan models. They may be the ones you didn’t like but they are on sale from GM for just over 200 dollars each which is a great price. I bought the 20” SHH wheels on Black Friday sale but in hindsight I should have purchased the 18” and saved 1000 bucks-ish. I believe they were an option on 20-24 trucks. GM authority website shows all the current wheel set ups for the 25’s. They meet the weight requirements.

I liked the ride with 18 inch wheels better than 20s when I was test driving back in 2021 to buy my 3500. Of course, the dealers tend to have everything at max tire pressure.

Ooooh good catch I forgot all about that wheel.  Opens up to cheaper tires too instead of the price of the tires for the 20" stock size.

@Ry Guy the 18 inch wheel that 4th Duramax mentioned straight from GM.  Chevrolet 18x8-Inch Multi-Spoke Wheel in High Gloss Black | 84428945 | Chevrolet Accessories

Yes. That’s the one. I think Chevy/gmc has 15% off and free shipping right now. They are also online at resellers of GM parts for 209.95 last time I looked. I wish I never ordered the 20’s although I do prefer the industrial look of the SHH wheels but I’ve got 18 silver wheels so it would have been an easier swap without Speedo calibration at a dealership to go back and forth for winter/towing. I read that dealerships will only recalibrate Speedo if your trim package allowed that wheel size as an option when ordered so I would check that out before you commit. My LTZ allows either size wheel.

Wont sizing down from 20’s to 18’s mess with the speedometer accuracy? Plus I would have to get rid of my tires too instead of swapping them over to new wheels, which adds more cost.

Edit: I saw your comment about needing dealer reprogramming for changing wheel size.  That’s would be a show stopper since the ‘24 Custom trim level only had the one 20” wheel that came standard with the Custom

I ended up finding a set of the OEM 20” black ‘24 AT4 2500 wheels from a parts recycler for less than a thousand. Really liked the look of those when I saw them on an at4 in person. Picked them up today and will be getting them mounted tomorrow.

Thanks everyone for the suggestions!
